Electronic Arts is working on a sequel to The Godfather in order to recoup development costs of the original, according to industry analyst Todd Greenwald, who told GamesIndustry, "EA is leveraging the significant amount of development time and costs that went into The Godfather game."
In addition, Greenwald revealed, "The
open-world engine was built from the ground up for The Godfather, and
is now being used by five different franchises, including The Simpsons.
The Godfather 2 is also in development currently, though timing is
unknown."
Greenwald also had praise for EA's MySims games for Nintendo DS and Wii, saying that he expects "continued growth this year to be driven by MySims." Further, he continued, "MySims looks like it has the potential to do very well with the Nintendo demographic, especially in Japan."
Currently, the tenative Australian release date for MySims on both Nintendo DS and Wii is September 13.
