Namco is currently developing Namco Museum Remix
for Wii. Classic games from Namco's retro stable, including some
starring Pac-Man, have been re-imagined and upgraded with new graphics
and motion controls specifically for Wii.
Remixed versions of Namco's classic games include Pac'n Roll Remix, Pac-Motos Remix, Galaga Remix, Gator Panic Remix and Rally-X Remix. The new Wii controls are set to "whip, swing, twist and shake up the video game classics."
Pac'n Roll Remix seems set to mimic Monkey Ball, with players rolling Pac-Man through levels, acquiring the classic pellets and using power-ups. Pac-Motos Remix
will allow players to use the Wii-mote to navigate colourful stages and
attempt to knock other players off, while nabbing power-ups to attack. Galaga Remix
challenges players to protect Pac-Man from the Galaga invaders by
shooting them down, allowing 4 players at once to play, and tallying
their scores in a frenzied co-op.
In a twist on the whack-a-mole game, Gator Remix forces Pac-Man to defend himself against hordes of gators that appear on screen. The final game on the list, Rally-X Remix,
is set to revitalise the classic Namco game with new power-ups and
graphics, while using the Wii-mote to steer. It won't just be Galaga Remix that offers multiplayer fun - most of the titles in the collection will have the option for a friend or 3 to join in.
Makoto Iwai, Namco Bandai's COO and Senior Vice President, said, "Namco
Museum Remix breathes new life into all time classic games like Galaga,
Rally-X and Pac'n Roll by taking their fun and famous gameplay and
adding new twists which are easy to grasp, involve multiple players and
offers a level of fun that is only possible with the Nintendo Wii." The Museum collection will also include the classics Xevious, Super Pac-Man, Pac-Mania, Mappy, Galaxian, Cute Q, Dig Dug, Pac & Pal and Gaplus.
