Capcom has updated its investors on the status of the consolidation
of some of its internet studios, confirming that Studio 8 happenings
came to a close during March, and that Clover Studio - the highly
respected team behind
Okami and
Viewtiful Joe - was still in the process of being dissolved.
In addition, the company also revealed which internal studio is next in
line to face the axe. Interestingly, it'll be Flagship, which was
established in 1997, and has since worked on
The Legend of Zelda handheld games including
A Link to the Past,
Four Swords and
The Minish Cap on Game Boy Advance, as well as
Oracle of Seasons and
Oracle of Ages on Game Boy Color. Further, they were also responsible for
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror on GBA, and most recently,
Kirby Squeak Squad on Nintendo DS.
A spokesperson at Capcom told GameSpot that while Flagship will be no more, its employees will remain with Capcom.
