Cockpit view in GT5?

French television channel M6 recently visited the Japanese offices of Polyphony Digital for an update on Gran Turismo 5 as mentioned on Polyphony's Official news page. The tour was hosted by none other than the father and creative
mastermind behind the series, Kazunori Yamauchi, who showed M6 around
the offices for the roughly five-minute piece.


One very interesting bit of information that you can find in the show,
which has made its way online (legally or no), is that modelers are
currently working vehicle interiors which would be used for in-car
cockpit views. If this is not only a test and winds up coming to
fruition for the final game, it would mark the first time in the
series' history that gamers will be able to drive from behind the
virtual wheel while having full view of each and every cars' dashboard.


This of course would be quite a feat to pull off as the Gran Turismo
series has always featured an incredibly long list of vehicles (more
than 700 were present in GT4) and the sheer modeling hours that it
would take to implement this is astounding. Perhaps the utilization of
Blu-ray has allowed for enough space to make this happen, but it also
wouldn't be the first time that a feature has been "announced" only to
not make it into the final game (see online play in Gran Turismo 4).

I'd use it, since i hate the outer view and the bumper view is bland. I use it on the 360 booths at the shops for DIRT and PGR3
